Halal Certification Schemes and Scopes Conditions
- 1. General Information
- 1.1 The halal scheme and Scopes shall apply to selected products, which are produced, manufactured or partly processed within the range given.
- 1.2 The scheme and scopes of certification within all schemes shall include purchasing, receiving, storage, processing, packing, labeling and loading.
- 1.3 The applicant shall, prior to a halal application be adequately licensed by the national authority organization and shall stay legal in the duration of the halal certification period.
- 1.4 The applicant shall ensure that there is no cross-contamination of any halal and non-halal raw material within the scope area including the use of processing aids and/or tools in the process at all times.
- 1.5 The applicant shall establish a halal management system for its organization for ALL scheme types
Produce
This scheme applies to all produce coming in fresh from the farm unprocessed such as whole vegetables, eggs, fishes from the fish farm, grains from the fields inter alia. The condition for this scheme is that it must be unprocessed.
F&B Manufacturing
F&B Manufacturing scheme covers mainly the further process of produce such as canned food, cut vegetables, bottled beverages, biscuits, sauces and so on. This scheme is the most common among the schemes as the current modern era rely heavily on such supplies globally. All applicants is expected to have a working halal management system in place covering all critical areas.
Chemical Manufacturing
This scheme deals with products with chemical interventions both meant for end consumer ingestion and/or act as a raw material or possibly processing aids for the manufacturing of end consumer products. This specialized scheme requires active sampling to trace for any possible cross contamination and to ensure it is safe for usage.
Non-Food Manufacturing
This scheme deals with non-food items such as cosmetics, packaging materials and diapers. For this scheme, HCS will also look at the possible inclusion of non-halal raw materials in the making of the end product.
